What Paediatric Complex Care Means
Your child's clinical nursing needs met at home — within the family environment where children thrive, not a hospital bed or residential unit.
Clinical interventions our nurses provide
Tracheostomy care and suctioning (routine and emergency)
Ventilator management — invasive and non-invasive (BiPAP, CPAP, home ventilators)
PEG and jejunostomy feeding — administration, flushing, and tube management
Complex epilepsy and seizure management including emergency rescue medication
Cough assist and chest physiotherapy support
Bowel management programmes
Urinary catheter care
Moving, positioning and postural care for high-dependency children
Medication administration including complex multi-drug regimes
Oxygen therapy and saturation monitoring
Skin and wound care including pressure injury prevention
Stoma management
From infancy to transition. We support children from birth through to adult services. As clinical needs change, we evolve the care package with them — working alongside Children's Continuing Care and Adult CHC teams to ensure continuity.
We also support children in:
Specialist educational settings and mainstream schools
Early years and nursery
College and further education
Community activities, outings, and social engagement
Respite and holiday care

The Ambition24direct Approach
Having a care team in the family home is a significant adjustment. Our approach is built on three non-negotiable commitments.
Consistent Teams
We build and train a small, named team around each child. The same faces, the same routines, the same understanding of your child's specific clinical and personal needs. Not a rota of unfamiliar agency staff.
Client-Specific Training
Every team member working with your child is clinically trained to that child's exact needs before care begins. Generic training is not enough. We sign off specific competencies — tracheostomy, ventilator, PEG — before anyone goes live.
Named Clinical Lead
A designated nurse manager oversees every paediatric package. They attend MDT meetings, review care plans, sign off competencies, and are directly accessible to families and commissioners at any time.
Who Commissions Paediatric Packages
Most children's packages are funded through NHS or local authority routes. We accept referrals through all pathways.
Private & Compensation Funded
Case managers and solicitors — catastrophic injury and birth trauma compensation packages
Financial deputies and Court of Protection
Personal Health Budget (PHB) holders
Private families self-funding care
NHS & Local Authority
NHS ICBs via Children's Continuing Care (CCA) pathway
Local authority children's services under the Children Act
Joint-funded packages (NHS + Local Authority)
Hospital discharge teams and step-down from PICU or NICU
Commissioners: We provide full governance documentation — staff training records, competency sign-offs, incident logs, care plan reviews — for CCA annual reviews and audits. Call our clinical team directly on 0330 678 3014.

Frequently Asked Questions
-
Most children's packages are funded by the NHS through Children's Continuing Care — a separate pathway to adult CHC. Local authorities also fund care under the Children Act. Compensation-funded and private packages are also arranged. We can guide you through the assessment and funding process.
-
We accept urgent paediatric referrals 24 hours a day. For planned packages, mobilisation typically takes 2–4 weeks to allow for clinical assessment, team selection, and client-specific training. Emergency packages can be mobilised faster — call 0330 678 3014 at any time.
-
Yes. Our nurses and trained healthcare assistants support children in educational and community settings as well as at home. We liaise directly with school nursing teams, SENCOs, and specialist provisions.
-
Yes. All staff working with children are clinically assessed and trained to the specific needs of each child before care begins — this includes condition-specific training in tracheostomy management, ventilator care, PEG feeding, seizure management, and any other clinical procedures required. Generic mandatory training is not sufficient for paediatric complex care, and we do not treat it as such.
-
Yes. We work closely with families, ICB Children's Continuing Care teams, and Adult CHC teams to plan well-structured, safe transitions. This includes updating assessments, preparing staff for changing clinical needs, coordinating with adult services, and ensuring continuity of the care team where possible.
-
Yes. We manage package transfers regularly. Contact our clinical team to discuss a transition plan — we handle the coordination with the current provider, the family, and the commissioner.
