Motor Neurone Disease is progressive and relentless. As the condition advances, clinical needs escalate — often rapidly. A care provider that can only manage early-stage MND will leave individuals and families having to switch providers at the most distressing point of the journey.

Ambition24direct supports people with MND from diagnosis through to end of life. We have the clinical capability to manage tracheostomy and invasive ventilation, PEG and enteral feeding, and palliative symptom management — all within the same provider relationship, with the same familiar team.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Yes. Non-invasive ventilation (NIV) is a central part of MND care for many patients. Our nurses are trained in BiPAP management, mask fitting, circuit care, and escalation protocols — and work closely with respiratory physiologists and MND clinic teams to manage NIV at home safely.

  • MND can progress rapidly — sometimes with sudden deterioration. We work proactively with families and clinical teams to anticipate changing needs and have contingency plans in place. For acute deterioration, we accept Fast-Track CHC referrals 24/7 and can increase care hours or introduce new clinical interventions rapidly. Call 0330 678 3014.

  • Yes. We support people with MND to remain at home through the final stages of their illness, including end-of-life care. This includes syringe driver management, palliative symptom control in coordination with specialist palliative care teams, and sensitive family support. We work closely with hospice at home teams, Macmillan nurses, and palliative consultants.

  • MND is one of the conditions that commonly meets the primary health need threshold for NHS Continuing Healthcare — particularly as the condition progresses and clinical needs intensify. Where needs are rapidly deteriorating, Fast-Track CHC may be available without the full Decision Support Tool assessment. We can support families and ICBs through the CHC process.
